Disclosures

Plain answers to “what is this, and what isn’t it?”

Not investment advice

Orumi is a research and education tool. It is not a broker, dealer or registered investment adviser, and it does not know your full financial situation. Shortlists, allocations, comparisons and summaries are illustrations of how a set of rules responds to the preferences you enter — not recommendations to buy, sell or hold any security. Investing involves risk, including the loss of principal. Consider speaking with a licensed professional before making decisions.

How picks and weights are made

A deterministic picker scores a curated universe of 96 US-listed stocks and funds (profiles last reviewed 2026-10-01) against your budget, horizon, risk profile, themes and exclusions, blending in live price history where it loads. Weights are solved by code that guarantees: a total of exactly 100%, no single stock above your cap, funds within their own cap, exposure caps respected, fixed weights kept, and exclusions honoured. Each shortlist shows these checks.

The AI never sets weights. When you chat, the model proposes typed changes to your brief; code validates them, rejects anything outside the rules, and re-runs the picker.

Where the data comes from

  • Prices and price history: Yahoo Finance chart data. It may be delayed and is shown with its own timestamp.
  • Fundamentals (market cap, P/E, growth, margins): Finnhub, when configured on the deployment. Otherwise they are shown as unavailable.
  • AI models and web research: Orbio (orbio.so). Research briefs list every source with its URL and fetch time; sources that fail to load are shown as unavailable.
  • Curated profiles (sector, themes, risk band, one-line description and key risk): written and reviewed by Orumi.

If any data fails to load, Orumi says so. It never fills a gap with an invented number.

What we store

There are no accounts. Your brief, chat history and saved shortlists are stored in your browser. Saved shortlists are also stored on our server under a random, anonymous browser ID (a cookie) so follow-ups work; we store no name, email or payment details. Chat messages are sent to Orbio’s models to be understood; Orbio states that it does not retain prompts or responses. Requests are rate-limited and AI spend is capped per request and per day.

Backtests

Backtests replay today’s shortlist over past monthly prices. They benefit from hindsight, ignore fees, taxes and rebalancing, and do not predict future results.
